Our environmental policy
EC directives concerning the environment are continuously changing and respecting these directives often involves broad responsibilities and adaptation of our products. We consider these changes as being a challenge that is profitable to our customers and to our environment. For this reason, we are conducting our activities by trying, as far as possible, to provide products which comply with these conditions long before they have become mandatory.
RoHS directive
The European RoHS directive (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in electronic and electrical equipment Directive 2002/95/EC) is intended to protect human health and the environment, by limiting the use of some dangerous substances in some new equipment. The use of lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr 6 Polybromobiphenyl (PBB) and Polybromodiphenylsethers (PBDE) has to be almost eliminated in order to comply with the RoHs directive.
Most products that we market are in category 9, "Measurement and test instruments" and consequently are not subject to the RoHS directive. Therefore, although it is not compulsory for our products to be conforming, in 2004 we adopted an approach to comply with the RoHS, and consequently most of our products have been conforming since July 1 2006.
You can download our declaration of conformity with the RoHS directive here.
WEEE directive
The objective of the European WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive is to protect the quality of the environment through the use of natural resources and by setting up waste treatment policies focused on recycling and reuse.
Manufacturers are responsible particularly for labeling, creating collection and treatment sites, transmission of sales data and financing of waste management costs. We comply with this legislation, and implement all means necessary to respect our obligations as the manufacturer of the products concerned. |
