CEREMA is the Centre for Research and Assessment of Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Development.
It is a centre of technical and scientific expertise supporting state departments and local authorities in the implementation of public policies for sustainable planning and development.
Within the framework of monitoring the development of cracks in a motorway viaduct, the CEREMA needed to precisely measure strain undergone by the structure as vehicles pass over it.
SCAIME proposed the use of EPSI-AX extensometers. These strain sensors, made from stainless steel and attached by screws, offer easier implementation and much longer lifespan than standard strain gauges.
Each measurement point is composed of an EPSI-AX extensometer coupled with a displacement sensor.
